The Blue Line Extension isn’t the only high frequency transit project being planned in the Twin Cities. From rails to wheels, Metro Transit staff is working hard with communities across the region to build a modern and fully integrated transportation system.

  • METRO Orange Line: A 17-mile planned highway Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line that connects Minneapolis, Richfield, Bloomington, and Burnsville along I-35W. Learn more here!

  • METRO Gold Line: A 9-mile planned Dedicated Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line that runs in a bus-only lane along I-94 connecting Woodbury, Oakdale, Landfall, Maplewood, and St. Paul. Learn more here!

  • Southwest Light Rail Transit (SWLRT): A 14.5-mile planned Light Rail Transit (LRT) line that will connect the cities of Minneapolis, St. Louis Park, Hopkins, Minnetonka, and Eden Prairie. Service is expected to begin in 2023. Learn more here!

This coalition is focused primarily on the build out of the METRO Blue Line Extension as it is the line that most closely effects our communities. However, we fully support a transit system that serves the entire Twin Cities Metro.
